Montecito Sequoia's Adventure Camp

Activities & Kid's Program

Montecito Sequoia's Adventure Camp is a great way to give your children an introduction to many great family camp activities, at a great value!

Since our Adventure Camp weeks take place at the very beginning, and at the very end, of our Summer Camp season, the activities on offer are not quite as extensive as during our Family Camp.

However, our Adventure Week families seem to love the combination of counselor-led and self-guided activities, along with our Kids' Program, and Evening Activities, all at a great low all-inclusive price.

There are also many wonderful things to see and do off-site in the parks. Our staff will be happy to give you suggestions for an afternoon, or a full day, off-campus!  You may have trouble breaking away from our on-site activities, however.  (Some of our Adventure Week families choose to book an extra night at Montecito, à la carte, so that they have more time to explore the parks, without missing any Adventure Camp Activities.)

From spending a day in the Giant Forest, to hiking Moro Rock, exploring the Grant Tree Grove, visiting the General Sherman, Auto Log, Tunnel Tree, Crystal Cave, or exploring the many hiking trails...your vacation will fly by!  You may have to come back again to do it all!

Daytime Activities Overview

  • There are four activity periods during the day - two in the morning (after breakfast); and two in the afternoon (after lunch), followed by an Evening Activity after dinner for the entire family.

  • Every evening at dinnertime, you can pick up the next day's Daily Activity Schedule; except the night of your arrival, when you will receive it at the Welcome Meeting.

  • Families eat meals together (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

  • Parents are responsible for their children, when they are not with their groups

Kids' Program

There are optional group programs for children ages 5 and up.  Each age group has its own animal mascot and is led by an experienced counselor.  Kids can have fun and make new friends, while adults can do the activities that interest them (or can read, relax, and/or explore the parks).  Children are not required to join the group programs. Remember, all of our activities at Montecito are free choice!  However, parents are responsible for supervising their children throughout their stay, when the children are not with their groups.

Evening Activities

Evening Activities will change nightly, and may include campfires and s'mores, a game night (Montecito Trivia, or Jeopardy, or Family Board Games),  a coffee house performance night, or a family dance.  Guests are always encouraged to bring their own musical instruments and talents to join in on the evening fun!  Check the daily schedule at dinner the night before for the planned evening activity for the following night.

Age Restrictions

At Montecito, we recognize that not all activities are suitable for all age groups.  The following activities are subject to age restrictions when offered at Adventure Camp:

  • For Overall Safety:  Children are not allowed in the pool, near the lake, on the trampoline, or at the stables, without adult supervision!

  • Archery:  Children under 5 may not use the archery range.  Children ages 5 & 6 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult, or they may participate with their group when scheduled for Archery.

  • Boating (canoes, stand up paddleboards, kayaks, etc.):  Children under 9 must have adult supervision while using the boats; everyone MUST wear a life jacket while boating! Note:  Sailboats can only be used when it is a scheduled activity period.

  • Docks/Dock Fishing:  Children 9 and under must wear life jackets when fishing or playing on the docks.

  • Hot Tub and Swimming Pool:  Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult when using the hot tub or pool.  Children over 13 must be accompanied by an adult when using the pool when there is no lifeguard on duty

  • Climbing Wall:  Children under 9 must be accompanied by an adult when using the climbing wall, unless visiting the wall as part of their scheduled group activity.

  • Paintball:  Paintball is held in our wooded paintball field.  This activity is open to individuals 12 and up, except when participating with their group (Cougars & Bears).  A parent or guardian must sign a waiver for their children to play, if they are under the age of 18.  Bobcats (ages 9 & 10) can participate in Paintball Target Shooting with their groups. Target Shooting does not allow for participants to shoot each other, only inanimate objects/targets.  Our instructors will teach the Bobcats the basics of paintball to prepare them to participate in paintball when they are old enough.

  • Horseback Riding:  PLEASE NOTE THAT HORSEBACK RIDING IS ONLY OFFERED DURING FAMILY CAMP WEEKS.
